Easter Egg Beanbags | Corn-hole

I love quotes and adages.

No nonsense, straight forward truths about life..

Quotes that
help me to remember to keep things simple...

A lot of the time my favorite sayings are
a little country-ish...
and a little old fashioned too.

Country and old-fashioned...
two things I like.
This all makes perfect sense...
In fact, one of my very favorite gifts, ever, was
a cute little "county sayings" calendar...
With the turn of each page, a new day offered
a sassy piece of old-fashioned country "wisdom"...
Many were great one-liners and zingers,
and other pages offered more thoughtful advice on life...
Every day was a good read....very good.

I am always telling my kiddos,
"Don't count your chickens before they hatch"...

And my personal favorite....
"Don't put all your eggs in one basket"

You'd think we were chicken farmers from the sound
of my favorite old-fashioned sayings...

Today, I break from tradition...
just long enough to request that you
put ALL of your
eggs in ONE basket...

This is one occasion where keeping all those "eggs" in
one Easter basket is a good thing!

Corn-hole...country again...
My Midwest is showing...

If you are unfamiliar...
 Corn-hole is a
very popular, (in these parts)
beanbag toss game.
(Some folks take it very seriously too)
Corn-hole gained popularity awhile back...it's a game played
at picnics, tailgating or other fun gatherings.

One of the best parts...it's easy, and kids of all ages can play.
For Easter, I love to have plenty of fun to keep
the kids busy and entertained.

We always have an egg hunt...

Sometimes a bunny sack race or two...

My personal guidelines for what makes a great
game for kids on a holiday:
1. Keeps them active...either physically or creatively
2. Must be clean...which can rule out bubbles, chalk, and paint....
3.  Fun, it has to be fun.
This year I made
Easter egg beanbags to use for corn-hole...
Using some of my husband's old shirts that
were already in the Goodwill bag...(what a lucky find)
I cut an egg-shaped template from
a cereal box.
I traced the shape with pencil onto the old shirts.
I cut around the egg shaped line using pinking shears.
I sewed the egg shapes together,
leaving a small opening.
(I'll be filling the beanbags in the next step...)
I added a little ric-rac to cover my stitches.
The ric-rac detail added a little extra cuteness too.
Finally I filled each one.
Being that this game is called corn-hole, I think
typically using dried corn is in order...
However,  I used rice...
I think using any sort of dried bean
or grain that you have on hand...is perfectly fine.
I stitched closed the small opening...

And now I am ready for
a holiday themed game of
Easter-egg corn-hole.

  1. Love this idea! May have to "borrow" it as I'm hosting Easter and it'd be a great way to keep the kids out of the kitchen. Visiting from Hometalk.
