LUCKY LIME FLOATS {St. Patrick's Day Preparedness}

One of the side effects
of being gifted with so many glorious
 snow days
 is the unenviable event ...
...of having to return to school.

Boo say the school kids....

Hooray say the moms and dads....

It was truly like a second Christmas vacation...
right smack in the middle of February...
Except with this "vacation" we didn't have anything BIG to look forward to...
... except  for maybe venturing out of the house...
Now that all the snowy, frigid mess is behind us (for now)

And ...to ease the kiddos back into the swing of things...

... homework

...reading....

...timed-tests...

...early bedtimes...

I presented them with a fun after-school snack...
much different than the usual 'health' food I try to push...

No organic green apples... not today...

No popcorn...no glasses of wholesome milk....

Today, I surprised them with a fun, festive lime sherbet float...
(in preparation of St. Patrick's Day of course!)

My son... the poor boy was so confused...
he asked "Is is March already??"
As if Rip Van Winkle himself was sitting right there...
The days truly are a bit confusing,
and everyday has seemed like a weekend...
....with the endless streak of snow days last week...

but no, sweet boy...it is not March... not just yet...
...although she is just on the horizon...
....so too are longer days, chirping birds and green grass...

And before we even know it,
daffodils will be blooming...
and everyone will really want their very own 'lucky lime green float'.
...Just in time to celebrate the luckiest day of the year...
in the actual month of March...

and lucky you...you'll be ready too!

Today... well..
today, we were simply celebrating getting back to normal... enjoying good ol' Feb. 24.

How To:
We used Lime Sherbet
Hawaiian Punch (Green Berry Rush)
Green sprinkles and a little Redi-Whip for garnish.
Fill a glass with a few scoops.
Pour green punch over the sherbet.
Top with a little whipped cream...and sprinkles for extra pizazz...

...who doesn't love a little extra pizazz every now and then??
