Beer Bread

Karri Perry|2025

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 Tbsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

3 Tbsp granulated sugar

1 Tbsp malted milk powder

1 beer-light Pilsner style if available. (12 ounces)

4 Tbsp butter melted

4 Tbsp butter softened in slices

Prepare a 9x5 loaf pan.  Grease or use nonstick spray. Lay in a piece of parchment paper. Set aside. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, malted milk powder.  Pour in 12 ounces of beer and 4 Tbsp melted butter and stir until no streaks of flour are visible. Scrape batter into the prepared loaf pan. Top batter with the butter, dot with butter slices.

Bake on the middle rack of preheated oven for 45-55 minutes.  Allow bread to rest for 5 minutes before removing from the pan. Allow to cool for 15 minutes, slice while still warm. Serve with soft butter and honey.

These add-ins are fun ways to change up the bread flavor:

Herb and Garlic and Cheese Variations:

Fold in 3/4 cup of shredded cheese to the wet batter-cheddar or Asiago are great choices.
