...And with this week marking the start of baseball season...
A baseball inspired post just feels right.
... Ever since our son began playing little league a few years ago...
Well...
...it's a whole new world.
A world...as seen through the eyes of our baseball obsessed son...
So, it should come as no surprise that
when he turned eight years old....
The party was all about that "base"...
ahem... or ...rather baseball.
Kid tested and approved... with the ornery and very happy thumbs up!
Read on to see inside the party and some of the fun baseball inspired party ideas.
Oh, my heart... that toothless grin of his...
I'm so happy we captured it on these cute party invites!!
And how do they grow up so fast...??
I'll never know...
Of course we had peanuts and cracker jack...
Take me out to the ballgame...
Take me out with the crowd...
Buy me some peanuts and crackerjack...
(and popcorn too...)
I don't care if I ever get back...
Let me root, root, root...
For the home team...
If they don't win it's a shame....
For it's ...
One
Two...
Three... strikes you're out at the
old ball game.....
We had baseball cookies...super easy to make ahead and a big "hit" with the kids!
This is my favorite butter cream frosting recipe:
1 Cup softened unsalted butter-
whipped with hand mixer until light and fluffy
3 Cups confectioner's sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-2 TBS heavy cream, use as much or as
little to get the frosting consistency desired.
My go-to recipe for the cut out cookies is from King Arthur Flour...
there are some
top notch recipes on their site.

For desserts we served the ever-popular
ice cream sundaes in a miniature baseball helmet,
...just like the ones we get at the ballpark.
For quick serving,
I pre-scooped the ice cream into the hats...
Then, when dessert time rolled around...
the hats were lined up and ready to
be made into scrumptious sundaes.
So many really fun ballpark foods to choose from for a baseball party...
As you can see I had trouble narrowing my menu...
The baseball field cake...
I was particularly pleased with myself on this little salad number...
If you don't "get-it" ...I would completely understand...
Ty Cobb is an obscure reference to a baseball player
from long ago...
and he so just happens to share a name
with a delicious salad too... well, at least part of his name.
No game would be complete without a signed and autographed game ball...
Every kiddo loved autographing the ball....
and it created a sweet memory and
keepsake from the birthday celebration.
Parting gifts for our players... We gave Big League Chew,
Cracker Jack boxes, baseball pencils and erasers too...
Pinwheels make fun and festive party decorations...
It was a memorable day...
The kids had a home run derby, and did some pitching games outside...
... after a brief rain delay...
It was a great day to turn eight!!
This Baseball Party was just outstanding. You truly nailed it. I would like to use some of these ideas for my son’s 6th birthday party. Last year we celebrated his birthday at the outdoor Seattle venues but this year we are going to throw a house party.
