Psst... It's almost October...
I know... October is a very busy month...
at least for me...and our family...
It's the busiest month of all.
Not only will October be full of hay wagon rides,
campfires, and pumpkin patch visits
but October will be full of pink...
Yes, PINK...
because it is also also Breast Cancer Awareness month.
My friends at FOX19Now, here in Cincinnati
are supporting our local Susan G. Komen, Race For The Cure,
this Saturday, September, 24, 2016!!
They asked..."Do you happen to have any super-fun pink crafts
to support this great cause??"...and I said "Yes!"
Yes, I do!!
Supporting Beast Cancer Awareness month and
the Race For The Cure is a cause near and dear to my heart.
Like many of you, I have amazing women in my
life who have been touched my breast cancer.
I'm happy to share that these extraordinary women are survivors...
strong and beautiful...inside and out...
If there was only one thing my dear friends would
want me to share with you...
it would be that early detection is critical to saving lives.
--So important.

monthly checks...it can really save your life.

All my supplies for these PINK
crafts were purchased from Hobby Lobby.
The pumpkins are from our local
farm market-where you get pumpkins.
The button maker was used at the Maker Space
Cincinnati Public Library-Main Location-Downtown

Pink Flower Pumpkin
I used a Funkin... ( a foam-faux pumpkin) so this pumpkin will last...and last...
Snip the flowers and leaves short with wire cutters
and carefully glue the flowers and leaves onto the pumpkin near the stem.
I added a few loops of ribbon and then glued the loops into place.
Then I added a few longer streamers of the PINK hope ribbon.
Pretty enough to enjoy the entire month of October!!
PINK Ribbon Wands
What a fun way to cheer on your racing team
or to carry along on the walk to wave at the crowd!!
For the wands, I used heavy paper straws and about 3 feet of
complimentary ribbons in pink.
Fold ribbon in half and tie onto the straw at one end.
Add fun embellishments.
Add a dot or two of hot glue to secure ribbons.
This wand is not intended for small children due to the small parts.
Positively PINK Support Buttons
We have a treasure in downtown Cincinnati...
it's called Maker Space.
Maker Space is at the main library branch.
You can sew, print, make banners, record music
and yes, you can make buttons!!
They have computers with templates for you to use.
If you print your artwork there it is
.25 cents a page to print.
I used artwork I created and printed at home
on PicMonkey.
Each button costs .10 cents, they give
you all the supplies to make the buttons.
You can make small or large buttons...they cost the same.
It is amazing!!!
Some of the Maker Space equipment needs
to be reserved in advance,
however the button makers are available
without a reservation on a first come, first served basis.
Maker Space is available during regular library hours.
Tip: It does get busy and booked-during holiday vacations and school in-service days...
it's a great rainy-day and something-creative-to-do-with-the kiddos kind of place!!
