Cheers to Dad! Root Beer Float Fun & FREE Printables; Peanut Butter Pie

Celebrating Dad!

Father's Day weekend is upon us and just in
time I have some pretty cute Dad's Day Root Beer Float
fun to share with you.
Simply print out the ties, color and cut out...attach with
tape or a dot of glue...and you're ready for a fun root beer party!!
Cheers to dad!!  (Printable ties below)

Another FUN way to have a little celebration is with S'mores!!
We couldn't LOVE dad S'more??... Right? --and even easier...s'mores
in the oven...that's right, skip the mosquitoes...and
make a crowd sized batch of s'mores
right in your kitchen!!  Details below...

This Father's Day, my husband asked for mulch...
not glamorous...but totally practical...
and I think by asking for mulch,
he's also looking for extra helping hands to
put all that mulch out... so we know what we'll
be doing this Sunday afternoon.  By 4 PM we will
only too happy to sip a root beer float
after a hard day's work.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads, and granddads this
June 16th...including my very own mulch-loving
husband and my dad (the kid's grandpa)...being a dad or
a granddad, it's an important job...and they do it well.

What are your Father's Day plans??
It's probably better than putting out mulch!!

Need a peanut butter pie recipe??

I have one for you... this version (pictured) has
a chocolate graham crust... if you scroll down, I made a
brownie bottom crust for Fox19 last year...both are
delicious and both pies would put a smile on dad's face!!

PEANUT BUTTER PIE, Gluten Free Version Included
Blue Ribbon Kitchen, Karri Perry

Crust:
1 ½ cup crushed chocolate graham crackers
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
5 Tablespoons melted butter

Filling:
Heavy Whipping Cream- 1 Cup
Sugar 1 TBS
Vanilla 1 tsp
tiny pinch of salt
Cream Cheese 1 brick-softened

Confectioner's Sugar 1 Cup
Peanut Butter 1 Cup
Reese's Cups-original (6) chopped, plus extra for decoration if desired

Topping:
1 cup heavy whipping cream
3 Tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions: Crush chocolate graham crackers in food processor until fine.  Add sugar and melted butter to the crushed graham crackers. Mixture should resemble wet sand.  Put the graham mixture into an 8 inch pie plate; use a measuring cup to tamp crust into the sides.  Set crust aside.

In a medium bowl, mix together:
1 cup of heaving whipping cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 TBS sugar
tiny pinch of salt
Beat on medium and then high,
until it's light and airy whipped cream
4-6 minutes
set aside.

In a large bowl (no need to change or clean off the beaters)

Mix together:
1 - 8 ounce brick of softened cream cheese
beat until light and smooth -2 minutes

Add:
1 cup of confectioner's sugar mix until combined.

Add:
1 cup of creamy GF peanut butter.
(I used Jiff...I am not sure how all-natural butters would do)
Mix in peanut butter until just combined.  (Read labels if making GF version)

Gently fold in the whipped cream using a rubber spatula

until no streaks of white are visible.

Fold in 6 chopped Reese's cups (if desired)

(Be sure to read the label, original Reese's
cups are labeled GF as of this printing 2016)

Pour the peanut butter mixture over
the prepared chocolate crust.
Spread the mixture all the way to the edges.
Gently tap the pan on the counter three times
to remove any excess air pockets.

Refrigerate the Peanut Butter Pie

for 12 hours before serving for best results.

Before serving, top the pie with sweetened whipped cream.
Decorate to with peanut butter cups and a chocolate drizzle.

For a Gluten Free Version and a Brownie Bottom Crust:
1 package King Arthur GF Brownie Mix
(You can make GF brownies from scratch, if you like)
Not Gluten Free??—Use your favorite boxed brownie mix.
***Using one package of King Arthur GF Brownie Mix or Regular Brownie Mix

Make according to package instructions....
Fill a lightly greased, 10 inch spring-form pan with brownie batter.
**If you do not have a spring form pan, you can make this in a 9x9 square baking pan, simply cut dessert into squares to serve.

Bake according to directions on box, (mine baked for 37 minutes) be sure a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
Let brownies cool in the pan before topping with peanut butter filling.

TIES for Fancy Root Beers

For any of the printables...whether it's a cute S'more's menu or sheet of  Dad's day ties for your root beer, simply save the image to your computer and print the size you'd like.  It's my treat!!

All the cute tie printables are just below.  Print them as 5x7 size on card stock to get the same size you see pictured.  By printing the 5x7 size, you can get four "ties" per page.  Print one set as an 8x10 large version if you choose to go the two-liter root beer route...obviously you'll want a bigger tie!!

These ties are super cute crafts for the kids and grand-kids!!

S'mores for a crowd is below too... no shame in
recycling an awesome idea for feeding a crowd.

(Original Post 2018)
Hello June!!

...and just like that we are off and
running --a brand new month is here!!

Oh, June,
I do hope we can slow the pace down a bit...
May had me on my toes...sprinting!

You'll never guess what caused
me to burn some of our dinner last night...

hint:  It's in the photo below.

Did you guess the S'more??

If you did... you were 100% correct.

I was taking

way too many close ups of this
cute little s'more...and
I lost track of the time...

Who takes photos of S'mores??
 Maybe just me...ha.

Luckily... we had dinner on the grill too
and in the microwave...
So, I only burned a small bit of our dinner.

Besides, we had plenty of S'mores...
So, we would have been well fed.

Welcome to viewers from

Fox 19 Morning News...
on this first Friday of June,
So happy for you to visit the blog.

 Since it's June...

We have the occasional neighborhood
S'more's party in
our backyard.

Here's a look at the spread from a few
summer's ago...

For the Father's Day S'more Bar...

The sky is the limit.

Truly.

You can create whatever kind of s'more you
think your family would love...

Name a s'more after a family member,
include their favorite ingredients so everyone
 can makes one!!

Before  long the "Uncle Charlie S'more "
will be sweeping the nation...
If I were going to guess that s'more might be:

Graham Cracker + Marshmallow +Fresh Strawberry Slices +White Chocolate

Below I am including a S'more Menu, one that we use,
you are welcome to print it for you very own S'mores Soiree!

A GREAT BONUS TIP:
For a crowd, make your s'mores on a cookie sheet!!
In the OVEN!!!
I know, right...

Is this not a genius way to make a lot of these???

It's perfect for a rainy day or a really big shin-dig.
Just be sure to have all your toppings ready to go when the
warm gooey marshmallows come out
from the oven.

HOW TO: S"MORES IN THE OVEN
I line a rimmed tray with parchment or foil.
Line up the graham crackers on the cookie sheet.
Place 1 (one) marshmallow on each graham cracker
Bake at 350 for 4-5 minutes or until
your marshmallows are golden, toasty and puffed.

Add desired toppings and a top graham cracker....Taaa Daaa...
S'mores forever... easily made and quickly eaten.

(Use caution...they will be very warm)

How easy!!

I created a few cards to match all the S'more party fun.
There are a few versions and a blank card...
feel free to print them off for your own use.

How to Print:
Simply copy and save the image
to your computer and
then print from home.  (Be sure you have enough ink)
