The Banana Bread is Safe!!

Did you get the email??

The email like the one I received??
The email from Pinterest...
About my banana bread??

I was heartbroken...literally...
when my bleary morning eyes peeped
the notice from Pinterest...

"Stay calm"...
(That's what I was telling little ol' me)
I was saying "stay calm" in my best "brave mom voice"
you know the one... the reassuring tone...
-note to self...it doesn't always sound so convincing...

To my readers, please know...It's a mistake...
Pinterest has mistakenly removed my original pin
and with a little luck we will have everything resolved...very soon.
(I'm hoping "soon" is the case) ...insert reassuring "mom voice"

About why this would even happen:

Here's the thing...
I would never copy someone's work.
I never thought about it happening to me...
but, as a blogger, I have found that
on more than one occasion, I have been copied.

Being copied...
No one likes that...
not the 4th grader taking a math test,
not the thirteen-year-old,
 writing a "novel"
...and certainly not
me.

Sometimes the copied material is a
 misguided attempt to mimic
a great recipe, or a creative idea...

and other times...

BIG websites take
advantage of smaller sites...
by redirecting readers, without permission.

It's kind of an unseen,
ugly-underbelly of blogging and sharing.

Back the the banana bread...

In 2014, I created a banana bread post and pin for Pinterest,
the pin became very popular for Blue Ribbon Kitchen
and it's a GREAT recipe too...

Sometimes, good ideas and great recipes...
and even very popular pins
 attract the wrong
sort of attention from those that would copy.

Recently, a BIG website liked Blue Ribbon Kitchen's
banana bread pin and recipe SO much,
they copied the pin...literally copied it exactly and added their logo.

 I know... right??
(I truly gasped when I first saw the copied pin)

I asked Pinterest to remove the copied and fraudulent pin...

and they did.
(thank you, Pinterest)

and...

somehow...

by mistake...today...

Pinterest removed my

original banana bread pin.

Oops.

Please don't worry...
The recipe is still on the blog...
I am working hard to get that pin reinstated...
I just wanted you to know...

The banana bread is safe.

The recipe is here for you (below) to make and enjoy...
Please pin and re-pin...
That's the beauty of Pinterest...
sharing ideas and creativity is a good thing.
Copying, however, is strictly prohibited.  --Said in a "serious mom voice"

Blue Ribbon Kitchen's Award Winning Banana Bread Recipe:

First Place Banana Bread: Blue Ribbon Kitchen
2 cups all-purpose flour
¾ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
***
¾-1 cup cup granulated sugar-use less sugar for very over-ripe bananas and more sugar for slightly less ripe bananas
3 very ripe bananas mashed well  1 3/4 cup
8 tablespoons melted butter, slightly cooled
2 large eggs lightly beaten
¼ cup sour cream
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped toasted walnuts OPTIONAL

Combine Flour, baking soda, salt and set aside.
Combine sugar, mashed bananas, eggs, butter, sour cream and vanilla extract.  Add flour mixture to banana mixture, combine gently, but well,--if it's lumpy and not entirely smooth, that's okay, do NOT over mix.
Fold in toasted nuts if using.
Pour into a 9-inch loaf pan, sprayed with vegetable oil spray.
Bake at 350 degrees, on the center rack of the oven, until golden brown (50-55 minutes), or until a tester comes out clean.
Let loaf cool in pan for 5 minutes, turn out onto a cooling rack.
(If using smaller loaf pans, adjust baking time)

  1. I added this recipe to my Pinterest and also received an email saying that they took it down. I thought this recipe looked yummy! I did panic a bit, but found I had printed it out and put it in my recipe box. It looks yummy and has a couple of ingredients that are new to me (the melted butter & sour cream). I am not the best baker, and don't really have a banana bread recipe that I love, so when I saw this one, I thought it sounded like a winner!

It's sad that someone like that took your recipe. Those types ruin it for all of the rest of us.

Love your blog. I've saved it and have been enjoying looking at your recipes and plan on trying others in the future. Love the "Before & After" section.
