Our Easter Brunch

Easter here at our house was sunny

warm-ish and breezy....

You can't really ask for much more than that in early April.

We had a fun filled day...full of laughter and family.

Come inside and take a peek at our holiday table,

and see some of the easy brunch ideas...

....and a few of my favorite Easter decorating tips....

Not too much is blooming right now...

But that problem can be easily solved
by popping a few bulbs into an urn filled with pansies.
I tried planting bulbs in urns around the yard... last fall,...
but the squirrels must have moved them...

Have no fear...
a quick trip to your local Home Depot or Lowe's
will reap sprouting bulbs in all varieties.
...Just add them to your pots or urns to give some height to your display.
These beauties waited until today to bloom...
We had a casual brunch...
I even gave the chandelier a little springtime treatment.

It was as easy as taking a few flowering branches,
giving them a little bend and adding some soft pink ribbon....

Spring...just in time.

I made these cute bunny napkin holders from a paper towel tube
and some left-over burlap.

On our buffet....
We had an Easter brunch...
complete with a traditional ham, southern style deviled eggs,
and fresh fruit....
I love this vintage deviled egg plate...it's like her day at the ball...
Her one day to shine...we don't make deviled eggs that often.

Here is my recipe for deviled eggs:
6-7 hard cooked egg yolks- pulsed in food processor
1/4 cup real mayo
1 teaspoon spicy brown mustard
1 teaspoon prepared horseradish sauce
1/8 tsp each of salt and white ground pepper

Blend well... until smooth.  Add 1-2 TBS of mayo if too thick to pipe.
Pipe into hard cooked halved egg whites, using a decorative tip.
Sprinkle lightly with Hungarian paprika.
I love serving fruit from a lidded cracker jar...
especially if we are outdoors... the lid goes on and keeps the fruit
(or whatever else you might serve ...pasta salad... garden salad...)
free from bugs.

We even had danish from what I consider to be the world's very best bakery...
(that is in my own world perhaps... )
but I've never found any I liked better...
...and the long lines at every holiday assure me that
quite a few others feel just the same about those bakery goods as I do...  yum.

I think it is always a good idea to add a few very good
store-bought or bakery items to round out
any buffet... it takes some of the pressure off of having to
make every single dish...

Sometimes being the hostess with the most-ess...means knowing
you don't have to do it all yourself...

 Really... drinking anything on Easter
always tastes better when you get to
drink from a bunny straw.
Adding foil wrapped eggs to a "nest" ...turns the ordinary chocolates
into a holiday prize.

They sure are hopping to it...

  1. Great article! So many fun ideas. I love the urn with bulbs in the center. Mine haven't poked up yet. Not sure if it is too cold or if the squirrels made off with them...
