Older and Wiser

Sometimes things just have a way of
getting away from you...

A whole two weeks slipped by
without a single blog post from yours truly...

...I did think about checking in...
I did...

...But then life got busy.
...as life tends to do...

Which is actually what makes great memories...
...and fun stories...
and is exactly the ingredient bloggers need to create great blog posts.

...and so...
I'll take a crazy busy life any day of the week.

To bring everyone up to speed on the last two weeks...

It included in no particular order:
travel, lots of laughter, the best biscuits this girl has tasted -ever,
a fair, celebrations, baseball games, fence-building, painting, rain delays,
stopping to smell roses...
or in this case...
weeping cherry blossoms... (it's a little early for roses)
...and much much more...

Last week my kiddos spied a sweet little bird's nest
in one of our weeping cherry trees...
It looks perfect to me...
and if I were a robin, I would certainly pick a weeping cherry tree too.
It comes complete with Tiffany blue eggs...
We are in the throes of fence building...
trying to carve out good weather and
free-time has proved to be a challenge...

but THIS is the week...
I can just feel it...
I think the fence will be up by week's end...finger's crossed.

At any rate, I hope our fence turns out as
"perfect" as this little nest did...

We watched a little of this...

And stopped to smell these...
 ...and a few of these...

...and while my good natured, and very hard-working ...strapping husband
(he'll be embarrassed I called him strapping... but I have photographic proof of it...)
was hard at work on the fence I took a few of these...
Watched my animal-loving girl play with a neighborhood cat...
and hopefully the neighborhood cat will not know or come to find out
about our new friends..the robin family.

Visited with a dear college friend in Tennessee...

Stopped in here...
I'll share more of the Fair later this week...

Stopped by this landmark...

had some amazing...melt-in-your-mouth-...Oh so Southern, best-ever biscuits...

and...

turned a year older...

perhaps a bit wiser too...
we'll have to wait and see on that front...I can only hope ;)

I will share a tiny bit of my new found wisdom:

When life gets crazy busy...that's the good stuff...soak it up.

I'm looking forward to sharing this week about the trip to Tennessee...
the finds at the fair and a special birthday pie I was honored to bake...

Until next time...

Karri

  1. Happy Belated Birthday Karri! The photos of your weeping cherry tree are beautiful. We have a white snow fountain weeping cherry tree in our yard and I look forward to the beauty of it's blooms every spring. I just have to add that I love the white picket fence in the background of your one picture...it reminds me of the one that Susan Branch shows on her blog and in her Summer Cookbook. So charming!
